About

Krista Villatoro is a media artist whose work explores the relationship between disability and control within contemporary social systems. Working across sculpture, film, electronics, games, and photography, her practice is rooted in lived experience as a disabled artist.

Krista embraces constraint as a space for resistance, play, and transformation. She investigates how we move through systems—especially those disguised as comfort, care, or success—and examines the physical and social architectures that quietly dictate who gets to feel in control.

She holds an MFA from UCLA’s Design Media Arts program and a BA in Cinema and Media Arts from Biola University. Krista recently completed the IKEA Art Residency in Burbank and is the founder of ARTADOS, a grassroots disability initiative supporting disabled artists through accessible studios, exhibitions, and media production.
